Why Do Trees Heal Themselves?
Just like the human body, trees have their own immune system. When their bark is damaged — by wind, lightning, or animals — they begin to heal, growing new tissue and forming protective knots. From this process of natural recovery, agarwood is born.
When the tree encounters microorganisms, it produces a resin to defend itself. Over years, this resin becomes dark and aromatic — the very essence of agarwood.
The heartwood, the oldest and densest part of the tree, records its growth and strength. This is why agarwood burns slowly and beautifully, releasing a fragrance that feels both grounding and transcendent.
At ZIXIU, we select mature agarwood trees grown for many years, harvested respectfully, and refined by hand. Each incense stick burns for about forty-five minutes — natural, calm, and deeply restorative.
From the tree’s self-healing, we find our own reflection — a reminder that beauty can grow from what once was broken.
